My son is 14. He has a place at a brilliant Specialist ASD school, but his sensory challenges are so overwhelming for him that he cannot cope with the journey, so he is not currently attending in person, although he enjoys his online sessions. The school have offered to assess him for a residential placement, either 38 week or 52 week. As a mum, I am so torn as to what to do, and how I'd even get him there. I don't know what to do for the best. Does anyone have experience of this situation?
