Walking

Hi i have a 3yr old son who is being assessed for autism, hes quite tall and doesnt fit in a pram anymore, im really struggling to get him to walk beside me on rains. He just runs off or keeps stopping and dropping to the floor, then wanting to be picked up, just lately i have noticed that hes been covering hes eyes with his hands. Can anyone help with this? And any ideas how to get him walking please? Thanks simon

  • my son didnt walk well when young, behaviour similar to yours, would cry too, turns out he is hypermobile and had to have physio for a few years, the running could be over stimulation, ear defenders for noise and sun glasses with blue light blocking filter. also to help with any pain he might be getting from walking you could try regular swimming sessions to help, once diagnosed see if your area has disabled swimming lessons. you could look online for reviews of strollers that fitted larger toddlers and older, i did and my son stayed in the pram until around 5 1/2. walks fine now

  • Thanks, my son does have swimming lessons every week, i will try ear defenders and sun glasses thank you
