Almost 9 year old boy showing traits

Hi everyone,

I'm sure as you all know, just very hard to come to terms with the fact that your child may come under the spectrum, bear with me as my son is my first born so it is all completely new.

I took my son to a physio yesterday for his intoes, he struggles with doing buttons, tying laces and his handwriting severely, which lead onto the fact it could be something else, she has referred him onto OT, which the school tried several times last year but they rejected it everything.

My son is a little quirky, which is fine with me. He is very particular about certain clothes, will always ask to wear jogging pants, hates labels inside clothes  his socks have to be perfect otherwise its an issue for him. Cleaning teeth has to be the same tooth paste and same tooth brush, and he finds it uncomfortable, very easily over sensitised.

At meal times he is fussy, he will eat one food type at a time, like chips first, then beans then chicken. It all has to be separate, same sauce and drinks everything.

He struggles to maintain friendships, struggles with noise and lights  easily startled and overwhelmed. Struggles to understand his friends and their desires for other interests, he has a very narrow field of interests but is quite obsessive about them

He is rigid about routine and times, has to have a fluffy blanket and hot water bottle at all times at bedtimes.teddies and pillows have to be in the right position.

I've waffled on long enough, just wondering where do I start with this sort of thing. Family members have noticed his little quirks and suggested he may fall in the spectrum.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you from a very unnerved and worried mum x
