Seeking advice

Hello

My daughter (age11) was recently diagnosed with autism.

We were given the diagnosis,  and now feel completely lost.

I'm grateful that I can now see her better and want to support her fully in every way, but have no idea how. I've been going through these pages and feel completely lost.

Is there a contact place in Hampshire?

I would love her to meet other girls so that she realises that she's not alone, and can perhaps even be understood by others.

I don't know where this journey will take us, but can't seem to get us on the first step.

Any advice will be hugely welcomed!

  • Hi There - You may be interested in contacting a local National Autistic Society branch. Our branches offer support to local autistic people and their families. If you interesting in checking if there is a local branch near to you, please follow the link below: https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/local-branches

Our branches are volunteer-led, and as such every branch and group is different. Some are parent support groups, some provide support and information to autistic adults, while others have office premises and run their own a drop-in service. You will need to check with a branch directly for more information on whether they are able to provide a particular service that you are interested in.

If you were interested in starting a branch or group, please email branchservices@nas.org.uk

    Best wishes,

  • My son has an EHCP which helps him with support in school. We also get sent things with local support specific to ASD and courses for parents. Some areas also have ASD Youth groups. School or your education authority may be able to advise you on these.
