Weighted blankets

Hi, I'm thinking about getting a weighted blanket for my boy (9yo AS) who finds it difficult to get himself back to sleep after waking up overnight. Any advice or experiences?

I've seen people advise to go for 10% of their weight?

Thanks for any help.

  • I think they say 7-12% but mostly recommend around 10%. I have one that is 10% of my body weight, in summer I tend to use one that’s 6.5% because I get hot! But I still feel like I need a bit of weight on me. My daughter has one that’s just about 10% of her weight now but was just over 12 to start with because it was the smallest one and she’d only just turned 4. She settles so much better with it to the point that I bought a spare one at quarter to midnight one night when hers was in the wash! Officially you’re not supposed to sleep under them but we’ve never had any issues. You can get some reasonably priced ones on eBay or studio. A lot of the ‘sensory’ ones are really expensive because they back them with textured fleece which is at least £30 per metre
