Is Autism hereditary?

Please, I'm looking for information.

I live in a society where almost all marriages are arranged (not here to discuss arranged marriages).

A suiter has come for my daughter who seems to check all the boxes.

However, he has 6 brothers, one of which is Autistic.

Does this increase the likelihood that he will have an autistic child?

Thanks

M

  • I appreciate your view on this, but I know where I live. There are NO support systems for anyone that is different in any way. I am not the most suited person physically, mentally, or politically to try to change that.

I am simply trying to understand the situation I am potentially getting my daughter into.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'd still like more info on the likelihood of my daughter having an autistic child.

  • i don't really like the way you've phrased this.

autism shouldn't be something you actively avoid as it is not an illness/disease.

autism means you are simply "born different" and think differently. you view the world in a different light which can give both its advantages and disadvantages.

having an autistic brother may or may not affect the child- autism can be hereditary yes.

autistic people can still live happy lives like NTs.
