Autism diagnosis

Hi, my 11 year old son was diagnosed a couple of year ago, he's since had a couple of bouts of tics, verbal tics. He's just started again but much louder this time and happens about every 20 seconds or so.

My question is should we be under a consultant/Dr or do we just get a diagnosis then left to sort ourselves out? Feel abandoned..... oh my god the tics have gone off the chart tonight........... please someone help......Cry

  • That sounds difficult.  Autism itself isn't a condition with a 'cure', of course, but perhaps there are ways of calming the tics, as you describe them.  Unfortunately my experience of the NHS is that you're on your own unless you present with something very simple and easy to diagnose.  Particularly at the moment.

I have no easy answers but I wonder if it's worth you contacting your nearet NAS branch?  Physical meetings are unlikely but you may find some local support / information if any other members are in a similar position?
