Exclusion

Hi

Wondering if anyone has any advice. Our daughter currently attends a mainstream school, awaiting a diagnosis for asd. She has support for most of the day as she has tendencies of violence towards staff and peers.

For 30 minutes at lunch time she is unsupported which today has resulted in her hurting 8 children. She has since been excluded for a day (tomorrow)

My question is do we have any leverage of which to say that we don't agree with this decision and speak to our Borough to appeal this decision.

Anyone been in a similar position that could offer any advice. Much appreciated.

  • Can you afford to and will the school allow her to work from home some of the week? Did they question the 8 children independently of one another to figure out what happened? Autistic children don't wilfully hurt others unless defending themselves, sometimes sensory overload, sometimes from a seizure, sometimes from sociopathic kids, etc.
