Specialist Further Education Colleges

We are the parents of a 20-yr-old son with Asperger's. He has an EHCP. We are looking for specialist further education for him. We've come across the Ruskin Mill Trust (which we really like) but we're wondering if anyone has personal recommendations. Ideally the college would be a charity and not-for-profit.

Thanks.

  • Late response - sorry! Also look at Natspec guide. We’ve been thrilled with our sons progress at Condover College in Shropshire - he’s in his 4th year and we’ve seen him make so much progress in his time there . It’s not residential but they do offer respite and supported living options as part of the wider service in place so wouldn’t let that put you off. We also really liked Beechwood College near Cardiff - was absolutely brilliant but our local authority wouldn’t entertain the idea of out of county option. Guess that’s the other challenge - what your LA will fund. Good luck!

  • Dear NAS75878,

Hopefully the Community will come up with some recommendations for you, but in the meantime you might like try using our Autism Services Directory to search for any suitable options.  You can find the Directory here.

    I hope that helps.

    Regards,
