Hi, I have a 11 year old daughter, who was diagnosed with ASD at 2, after diagnosis she was discharged and has received no medical support since that time. She is verbal but has limited vocabulary and is unable to communicate by way of conversation Recently she has been through a lot of changes both mentally and physically and we have hit a bit of a brick wall of where to turn .
Recently my daughter stopped sleeping and went 5 days with no sleep, she ended up in hospital, where she was sedated and treated for dehydration. She has since been prescribed Melatonin but once this runs out we have no way of obtaining anymore. She has struggled to eat and drink since but we are managing little and often with at eating and drinking... food is quite hit and miss.
Her behaviour has changed dramatically, she now hits and kicks out, but has completely gone into herself (repetitive behaviour has increased) and she now paces the house all hours of the day and night, she refuses to sit down or engage with anyone. This is such a dramatic change
The Dr has completed a referral to CAMHS and Paediatric neurology both have refused to take her, signposting me to Barnardo's and sending me leaflets. I am a loss of where to turn ? Should she have a consultant? will Barnardo's be able to help with the sleeping ? Behaviours ?
Should I push for medical help or just carry on trying to manage alone ? Any help would be great, thank you
