Please can someone explain why schools are unable to use bodycams or CCTV to aid when people have meltdowns & need to be kept safe.
I have an 8year old who is diagnosed autistic & attends a special school. He often has meltdowns & breaks things, assaults staff & sometimes other students.
He gets covered in bruises, if fact sometimes they cause the bruises & then ask me where they've come from!?
Today upon collecting him, two teachers kept him safe (infont of everyone) he was screaming & crying for us for help. We know it has to happen when he does the things he does but dad was really upset & shouted at the teacher for holding is arm inappropriately. Dad is getting worried that something terrible is going to happen.
Why aren't schools allowed to record when this happens? We did ask, they just said data protection.
But why cant they use bodycams to record meltdowns? As surely there would only be staff & my child on the video footage?
Thanks for any response
