EHCP says teaching should reflect ability

When your 8 year old is keen to discuss the orders of infinity and you’re fairly sure you are entering some very high level theoretical mathematics how do you approach the concept of teaching reflecting ability?

I meant that whoever teaches should do the research before trying to teach.
