Education help

So my son is 16 only recently had asd assessment have been waiting 4 years for it but we think its a foregone conclusion at this point.

before covid he was out of school with an eta programme through hospital school which mainly consisted of 1 on 1 teaching or very small groups as he found mainstream school too difficult.

he then started finding eta too difficult then lockdown hit and things got increasingly more difficult. Suffice to say it means he has no gcse at all.
so thinking of what to do come september is difficult, he is still not in a place to be attending school or college setting they want him to attend a course 3 days a week to get his essential skills but he hasnt left the house without me in years now and honestly i dont think he would be able to

wondering if anyone has had an similar difficulties and what they have done?

  • I was home schooled. In practice that meant I didn’t start my GCSEs till I was 15/16. I attended an adult collage, at first with my mum who accompanied me for the first year. Really all you NEED to get into uni is GCSE english and maths + A levels. Would enrolling yourself and your son in GCSE English and maths at the local adult college be an option?

once he’s had a year getting used to a community collage with you holding his hand doing A levels there on his own may not seem so intimidating.
