PCR test fears

We booked a ferry to get to Northern Ireland this year so we wouldn't have to go through what we went through on a plane with our 11 1/2 year old son last year.

After 19th July my husband and I just need our double vaccination certificate. Our son however, needs a negative PCR test to get on the ferry there and home because we are going Holyhead to Dublin.

Do we hope that he can cope with a test and keep all our plans or change our plans to take us direct to NI so he doesn't have to do it ?

Am I being overly fearful of having to make him do this test? I just can't see him letting us do it.

However, a good friend recommended a clinic that provides PCR testing near me. They're meticulous when it comes to children, and they make sure they feel comfortable during the process. I was asked to do the test myself because my son is under 12, and everything went fine.

I found this on Stansted Airport website - talks about 90 minute LAMP tests

How about looking for an approved test provider that uses LAMP tests (saliva). Might be easier???

Thank you for the message. While we are waiting for the community to respond, I would encourage you to talk to your GP about the possibility of your son being exempt from the PRC Test to travel.
