Hi, I feel my son is ready to know he has autism but I don't know where to start! We've always taught our children that everyone is different and unique, so how do we now tell him that he is a bit more different? Any help would be great, thanks

Hello Smw13,
It's great that you feel that your son is ready to know that he has autism. The NAS website sells a few books and this one might be of interest to you: https://www.autism.org.uk/shop/products/books-and-resources/autism-talking-about-a-diagnosis
You can also search for other books on the NAS website.
All the best,
Karin Mod
Hi,
These are some books we have been suggested by the team who assessed our son to explain him ASD. Our boy will be 7 soon.
My autism book by Gloria Dura Vila and Tamar Levi
The survival guide for kids with autism spectrum disorder (and their parents), by Elizabeth Verdick and Elizabeth Reeve
All cats have Asperger's syndrome by Katy Hoopman.
Look them up online and see what you think.
Also, a great video is "Amazing things happen". Very child friendly.
Best of luck.
