discriminating a child with autism

I wonder if anyone can help me. My son is at Capel Manor college and they are refusing him to return and they are basing their decision on his mental health and that staff members don't consider a return will benefit him as they will be online lessons. Due to covid this has affected him in all areas of his life.

Has anyone gone through this

Any advice will be appreciated

Hello Tina NAS73852 Sorry to hear you are going through this. I don’t have any personal experience; just thinking how I would tackle this. Is this a private or state school? Doesn’t sound like a very inclusive way of dealing with an issue on the school’s part. Doesn’t sound like they have even attempted to discuss making reasonable adjustments.

Have you taken advice from your local education department? If you looked at your local Council’s ‘Local Offer’ you would possibly find sign posting to charities in your area who you could turn to for advice and support? Wishing you all the best with getting this sorted out.
