Best mainstream schools in Cambridge

My partner has a job offer at University of Cambridge. We just visited and toured some mainstream schools. Thinking about St. Lukes or Fawcett primary. Our daughter would be in Yr. 1 and we'll be applying for statutory assessment as we know she needs one-to-one support for most of the day.

Am also trying to find information about receiving ABA/Lovaas either in the home or school. Can't seem to find information on that. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • My daughter who has ASD went to Fawcet Primary, but this was when Green Hedges Special School had an integrated class there and she had a place in that. That no longer exists following the reorganisation of special schools a few years back, so I don't know what it's like now. From there she went onto Impington Village College, which I do personally recommend for Secondary Provision.  A lot of Cambridge schools will have ASD pupils on roll though as there is a higher concentration in this area. Personally I would go with whichever school you feel are going to be most helpful and supportive in meeting the needs of your daughter, you do get a kind of feel for this.
