Is my son showing signs of autism

So my son is 3 since he was a baby he doesn’t like small spaces he wouldnt sleep in a Moses basket or next to me bed, he had to be in a cot from birth as a baby he was very unsettled didn’t like his swing or jumparoo and motion he hated and still does to this day doesn’t like swings at all, he lines all his toys up when playing, doesn’t make eye contact with you, missed all his milestones with health visitor, he doesn’t want you to play with him or try teach him he likes to be self taught himself, his speech is very minimum but he can count to 30, knows all the alphabet, all his shapes, all his colours, he is obsessed with motor vehicles and animals and knows every motor vehicle and animal there is more than I could ever know lol I’m unsure if it’s photo memory or not we got him a tablet for his Christmas and he’s Learning so much for it. He doesn’t like big crowded places and runs away when  the Hoover goes on, he won’t sleep in his own room and has to sleep beside me he’s very very loving towards me, I think it’s called stimming a lot when he’s excited  etc, he doesn’t interact with children like other kids his age do and he’s very sensory rubs my hands all over his face and holds my hands 24/7

sorry for long post lol

  • Hi, It sounds like he is definitely showing characteristics of ASC, I have a son with ASC and I am doing a level 2 in understanding Autism, I would talk to your GP and see if they are prepared to start the referral process, I am not sure which area you are in but here in Oxfordshire it is a 3 year waiting list. Earlier you start the process the better. If he is in early years ask the provider about SEN support available x
