Hello,
After all this wait we now know for sure that our boy is autistic. I am relieved and the doubts, fear and frustration seem to have disappeared for now.
He is a visual learner who needs to do things hands on rather than being explained. That may explain his struggles at school. He has trouble with processing speed and working memory but is also very good with fluid reasoning. He is very friendly and has made a few friends but has a hard time to make and maintain friendships. He is bilingual and quick at picking accents. :-)
During the assessment it was felt he has some sensory issues which could compromise how successful he is at school and with his peers. That's why we will look for an OT to assess him.
This explains so much.. I wish I had picked on him sooner although I am sure it is not too late.
Have a good day
