My 7 year old keeps doing things I'm not sure are normal for their age. I'm not sure if anyone has any insight into them. I believe i am on the autism spectrum and I'm not sure if I'm just incapable as a parent or if there's something I need to look into.
My child does things like drawing on the wall, writing the same phrase everywhere that they've been trying to make everyone say about them. They have insisted on being given a hierarchical title and have succeeded in getting both younger siblings in adopting this rather than using their actual name.
They have also been doing things like rolling up bits of toilet paper, wet under the tap, into little balls and hiding them in cupboards or underneath the wet wipes packet in the bathroom after finishing with their toilet.
I can't find any consequence that makes sense. They clearly know what they are doing is not acceptable but they don't seem to appreciate that it's not. It's not getting better and there are also meltdowns when sometimes I tell them to stop with the title obsession if there's conflict in the basis of it. I did try nipping it in the bud before it got entrenched but nothing worked. They also didn't start drawing on the wall until last year.
I'm not sure if this is purely behaviour related to stress and Covid or something more permanent. I think they also have some ADHD traits but I'm not sure about autism.
