Laughing for no reason

Hiya, does anyone know what causes laughter for no reason. My daughter's key worker came out today to talk to me about her day and she explained that it was good apart from one little thing.

Basically, today she had Science, break, P.E, Maths, lunch, then English. She said Science and break were good, P.E she was amazing like normal but had a laughing fit and was buzzing with energy becoming really loud and crazy and would just laugh at everything. She was also sit on the floor and lay down and would laugh really loudly and snort like a pig. This then continued over to Maths, where she stayed in for like 2 minutes and left because she didn't want to disrupt the learning of others. She sat in the dining hall and was laughing aggressively, falling over and teachers described that they thought she was intoxicated (which she isn't). I believe lunch was fine but she had a lot of energy, didn't eat and was still laughing but calming herself down a bit Her last lesson, English, was amazing. A few giggles but that was it.

I really want to know why she was giggling like that. It was for a good 2 hours non-stop of laughter and she could not speak. If she did, it would come out as a mumble. Why did this happen?

  • If it doesn't affect her too much in school I personally don't see much of a problem.

    See how it goes.

  • Thank you O, she's doing a lot better in school now. She's really improved. She could just be getting something out her system but who knows. She didn't mention that she found anything funny.

  • Hmm I'm not sure sorry, I'm autistic and there have been things that I found funny and I'll laugh about it even for a few days but never for long spans of time, no more for a few minutes but it just keeps popping into my head can be the same for negative things too.

Also awkward laugher is a thing I can get giggly when I get anxious or something serious is happening. I'm just not good at dealing with people when I'm anxious or when they talk about serious things that aren't a laughing matter.

I know that it's not necessarily what you want from her in terms of her behaviour, but maybe look at the positive. She could just be finding something funny and she's just getting it out of her system I know from your previous posts that she's been having a hard time at school, she could just be figuring her self out a bit more and something like this could be a bi product of that.

But again I couldn't be sure of that I'm just thinking out loud.

  • She could of found something funny, but she wouldn't laugh for 2 hours about it

  • I don't know why that could be have you asked her why she was laughing could just be that she found something really funny and kept thinking about it?
