i am a full time carer for my autistic son age 8. i am awarded full carers and low mobility.
his autism has got worse lately and my fiance had to leave his job in june last year, so he could help me as we had a newborn baby that month. since then my 8 yr old got worse as his contact with his father was rejected by the courts, a long story but social svs will not allow contact. and he cant handle this, even now, i am trying to get him help, but noone will help, even the disibility team wont help or get counciling for him. he is obsessed with his 8 month old brother, if you leave the room for a second he is in his face, and son no2 is getting upset by this, and now cried everytime he sees him go near him. so..wherever i go, either son 1 or son 2 has to go with me, including toilet etc. as you can imagine its hard. as son no 1 doesnt understand. so anger levels then get higher.
we are not in the process of partenrr moving in the family home, we have been together for 3 years almost, and feel nows the time. yet he hasnt got a job now, which is good as i can get ds1 sorted fo school/ and ds2 is safe and cared for. the same at 3pm for school collection too. now the dwp are pushing him in to work, which he wants to do, under normal circumstances, but me and ds2 cant look after ds1 without dangers and upset, also he runs off lots too and i have had to abandon the pram, and his 6 yr old sister in the street anough times to run after him, then you have the dragging home under your arm whilst he is biting, screaming ect. and yes, the disibility team wont do a thing, even the ewo ( education welfare officer) who visits frequently wont get transport, it was declined.
can a family have 2 carers? i am so worried, i cant sleep at night. i feel helpless. i am on a high dose of antidepressants and seeing a councillar over the whole situation with his father etc, and the impact it has had on the whole of our family.
any ideas? i rand the dwp to ask for help, and all they wanted to know was how many nights my partner was here etc. and does he live here. they wont help with the problems??
