18 months old he lost most his speech now at 24 months the rest has gone

I My little boy lost his speech in exactly the way you describe- He's 6 now and attends a special ASD school which is brilliant. The experts seem to push 'communication' rather than verbal speech and it was amazing when Teddy made his first sentence using PECS picture cards. I'm sure he will regain speech as I've met parents of kids to whom this has happened. One 8 year old had been non-verbal for 6 years and started speaking at Christmas. I just wanted to say that you must never feel helpless- he needs you to make him feel happy, make him secure and to have a laugh with! That will help you, him and the professionals later on when they start the speech therapy. I know it's frightening, frustrating and depressing but it will be ok.
