moving

Hi everyone

I have a 12 year old boy in Year 7. He has autism with speech and language delay. He loves maths, especially numbers. He is in a school that has a small unit for pupils with autism. We live in Dagenham and it has become heavily populated and more flats are being built. The schools have become massive with over 1500 pupils. I wish to move in country to Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire or Oxfordshire. I do not want to live in the big towns and would prefer suburbs or small and quiet towns with a few shops to help my son increase independence in going to the shop. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could tell me more about SEN education and lifestyle in those counties.

Thank you very much. I truly appreciate

  • Hello

My daughter was at a Secondary school in a small village called Coggeshall near Colchester in North Essex.

It is relatively small school (1,100 pupils) as it does not have a Sixth Form College. It has an autism hub for around 15 students, which my daughter was not in as we had not worked out that her anxiety issues were because she had ASD. This is a very recent discovery. However she was given excellent support by the Family Learning Team. (FLT). This enabled her to stay in school and achieve highly at GCSE level. I would recommend the school and the FLT.
