Moving from Wales to England

Hello Everyone,

My 3 year old son son has just been diagnosed with Autism. We currently live in Wales and he has an Individual Development Plan (IDP). We are thinking of moving from Wales to England to move closer to family and we were wondering if anyone here had done this and could share their experience in terms of whether our son would need to be reassessed or how easy it is to transfer any funding that he is entitled to. Thank you so much for your help in advance!

  • It does depend on where you move some councils are good some are nightmares ,to get a IDP moved is meant to be straightforward, but it does depend on how much it is going to cost them e,g if he has 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 teaching ,or residential.

I have found wales [powys] to be a nightmare ,at present  going through 2nd tribunal and they have hired top london barrister. ,wiltshire total nightmare [residential school with bars on windows or care] but know others who have found it good  ,devon rubbish, dorset good ,cornwall bad
