Hi..
I was wondering if anyone has much experience of the 3DI assessment and whether it would be suitable for my son.
He is soon to be 16 and has not engaged with anyone at all other than family and close friends for the last 3 years, and he has not attended school since May 2016 and rarely leaves the house. He has OCD and anxiety, is dyslexic and has sensory difficulties all of which are undiagnosed and are likely to remain so unless he chooses to engage in the assessment process. I am however convinced that he has ASD/High functioning Autism and am trying to start somewhere on the road towards eventually an ASD assessment.
The main two reasons I am querying the 3DI assessment is I am aware of a few independent clinical psychologists who administer it as a standalone as a sort of screening tool prior o a full ASD assessment and I'm led to believe it yields a positive outcome as part of the assessment process. I am also in the process of appealing to the SENDIST Tribunal for my son's EHCP and I have been told I will need an EP report, OT report and SALT report which in itself is going to be difficult due to my son's non-engagement.
I was wondering therefore if a 3DI would be at all helpful in providing useful information as to whether he has ASD? And if it indicates that he has ASD if the information collected would be helpful to an EP, OT and SALT to aid in formulating a report for tribunal even though my son will refuse to engage with any of them?
Sorry if I'm not making much sense, it's a bit hard to explain what my thoughts are in an email, and I guess reading the above it is a bit of a long shot.
