Request for Advice

My son has ASD and he has started to throw things away from the house. He started with shoes and clothes, he now throws out mirrors, anything hanging on the walls, all the rugs on the floor and anything he does not like the look of. If I stop him he becomes verbally and physically aggressive and starts breaking things and damaging doors and windows. What can I do to stop this happening?

Parents
  • I suspect that he's bored and frustrated at life.

This is his way of expressing his emotions.

I suggest you find a way to keep him entertained and busy.  What are his interests,  hobbies, obsessions?

  • He likes to watch films, likes takeaway food, he likes to drink Pepsi and Iron Bru, he likes to attend college, he used to like attending his day centre but he has refused to go now, he likes to go out for lunch sometimes. He has had these tendencies before but he always used to stop what he was doing when asked to do so. Now he will not listen to anyone. If he does not get his way he will become verbally and physically aggressive.
