I’m new here

Hi everyone.

so my 3.5 year old son was diagnosed with autism. We are just waiting for a call from his Pediatrition. Can anyone tell me what’s going to happen now?  Has anyone got any advice for me or things that are good to know? As we have 0 support from anyone apart from our portage services support worker who is due to finish in a couple of weeks

  • Dear Inita,

This must be a very stressful and uncertain time for you.  There's lots of information on our website which might be of use at this stage, in particular the post diagnosis support guide for parents and carers.

You might also like to consider contacting our Parent to Parent support helpline - the details for that are here.

I hope that is of help.

    Regards,

    Kerri-Mod

  • Hi Inita, no advice I'm afraid as I am new to all this too, but wanted to say hi.  I know in 'normal' times we would be able to go on a course (Cygnets or the like) but they are not for a while usually. At the moment most things like that have ground to a halt. My daughter was diagnosed through a private assessment centre so I'm not sure of the way things progress via the NHS. She has however got an NHS paed appointment next week as she was on a waiting list since last summer to be assessed through the NHS.
