20 months old being assessed anyone else can give advice or tips

Hi all.

My name us Hannah and my little girl is getting assessed for autism.

A quick over view she doesn't say any words  at all just sounds. And has almost no understanding of instructions.

And gives very little eye contact,  if she dose its only for a moment.

She doesn't interact with any of our family or children she carrys on as if they are not there.

She loves music and songs and will "sing " ( just using sounds ) alot and will watch a disney movie from start to finish if there are songs in there ( I don't allow her to watch movies all the time)

She will not respond to her name at all I can sit in the same room and call her name and talk to her she will not engage with me at all unless its on her terms.

Any tips to help me help her would be fab.

Thanks in advance

  • No tips except my little girl is 27 months and is exactly the same! It sounds like you could be describing her!

We are on the waiting list to see a community paediatrician.
Can I ask, how did you go about getting her assessed?

We are also having SALT. Is your LG at nursery? That has really helped my little one.

  • I just called the local health visitor and said I had concerns they sent an assessment of what she should be doing at her age and she scored 0 on a lot if communication and quite low on social.

I am a childminder so we have children everyday for her to interact with (iv only been a childminder 6 months now ) hoping she might show some interest in them soon lol
