Moving back to England

Hi, I am new to this forum but would really appreciate some advice. I'm moving back to England next month after 11 years away and I need to get my 5 year old son enrolled in school. My son was diagnosed at two and a half and since then has been receiving ABA, OT and Speech Therapy but he is still non-verbal and has extremely limited receptive language skills. I very much want to get him enrolled at Robert Ogden in Thurnscoe and wanted to hear about other parents experiences in the whole enrollment process - Eg. How long can it take/what are the processes involved? I have contacted a couple of LEAs but because I'm not yet in the country I'm not getting much info. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Smile

  • hi Ribenaberry - I seem to remember there may be a few posts on this site from parents living abroad, planning to come back here + looking for advice.  There may be something on the home page and/or another more informed poster than me might point you in the right direction.  The nas website/helpline may be useful.    Is your son at school at the moment?  My son didn't start to talk until he was in his 5th yr + then came out with a short sentence.  Despite his pronounciation being poor he wasn't put off.  With the help of a gd speech therapist he came on really well.
