Environmental protection and safeguard of wolves

My son (23 years old) is a passionate hiker, environmentalist and above all a defender of wolves. Are there other parents or autistic people who have a positive experience of continuing activities with wildlife parks, wildlife conservation organizations, or others about wildlife protection in your area?

  • Yes, around 1,800 - 2,000 wolves nowaday live throughout the Italian mountains (the Alps in the North and the Apennines in the Center and South). The Italic species is the Apennine wolf. But in the 1970s the Italian wolf was so close to extinction: only 100 wolf specimens on the central and southern Apennines resisted because they were considered a harmful breed. Then the naturalists lobbied and the Protection Law was made. Currently the big problem is fighting a culture of hatred that comes from ancient traditions and real difficulties of coexistence. The wolf has reappeared in many places where it had disappeared for almost a hundred years and the new generations are no longer used to its presence.

    But the Wolf center you report to me is in the US. The Nature Reserve where Simone at the age of 10 saw the wolf up close is in Abruzzo (central Italy) here ...
