8 year old masking at school

hello all

my daughter is 8 diagnosed asd and sensory processing, she transitioned to middle school in September, i was in contact with the school throughout the summer holiday asking them what they were going to be putting in place, eventually they said the same as she had from her lower school, (which was a sensory box, sensory breaks, zones of regulations visual time table emotions fan ect.

well to cut it short they had nothing in place so now i have school refusal and extreme high anxiety, i told them after half term she wont be back until they put some support in place, they hadn't even read her notes, they obviously see no problems its the usual she is fine at school maybe its home.  so we had a meeting and they are letting her come through the main entrance as its quieter, she has two 5 minutes colour breaks per day, they have a coloured card for her to use if things get too much (she wont use them she hates anything that will draw attention to her) and thats all, she went in for 4 days which was a huge struggle for me to get her there then on Friday she hyperventilated and i decided it was too much so let her stay off.

im so conflicted with whats best as a parent its the hardest thing forcing a child to school when you can clearly see the distress and you know when she gets home she will be awful. so i have some questions any advice right now would be great xx

1. how long do i give it till i say things are not working you need to try more?

2. should i be forcing her to school?

3. what else can the school put in place?

thank you from one tired muma
