NO Schools left to look at in our LA what now

Hi

My son's mainstream school has decided they can no longer meet his needs.  Personally I think they have not even tried but thats opinion and I am sure theirs is quite the opposite.  The reason we had to choose a mainstream school in our LA is that all of the asd units and specialist schools are under the flight path for one of London's largest airports and with my son's noise sensitivites these would distract and upset him too much.  We have looked everywhere for a school for him and are finding it near impossible.  He has a wonderful gift of being in the 99th Percentile for cognitive ability so a lot of schools can not cope with both his SEN and giftedness.   Is there any way that a LA can be forced to pay for tuition as we have no other options?

  • Have you looked into whether there are any independent special school in your area? I presume you are not wanting boarding school?

I find SOS!SEN very good. www.sossen.org.uk helpline: 020 8538 3731 They also have a monthly walk in advice clinic in Twickenham if you can get there (also Thornton Heath and Aldershot)
