Hello!
I am mother of 5 year old autistic child,he has been completely non verbal with an exception of two words....he has been doing well as far as behaviour was concerned....his biggest issue has always been eating n communication but recently he has developed a strange behaviour of taking off his shirt,trouser n nappy ....n if i ask him to come back n wear it he doesnt listen to and sometimes starts crying and sometimes starts laughing n running............i dnt know how to deal with it....i have been trying to put on his clothes forcefully....but it becomes really difficult to hold him n make him wear ......can someone relate to this....i really need help....because i feel that i am going to lose my temper soon.............if someone can help,thanks

Hi, have a look at different fabrics, he may be sensitive to fabrics, labels etc. The nappy could also be a sensory thing. Once mine got old enough I let him choose his clothes. He would try them on and the ones he liked he would wear there and then! Luckily I had understanding shop staff lol

Thanks a lot Mel F-P for your advice....yes you are right i may try with different clothing.....n will definitely try to use visuals...i hope it will be helpful......many thanks once again
Draw a visual of nappy, top, trousers and reward. Then cross them off as he completes them. Everything takes time to understand. But sounds like he he likes to play chase and also does not like clothes.
