Community paediatrician referral

Hello!

I have posted on her before. 
I have an 22 month old daughter who has problems with her communication, language and other skills.

She has now been referred to the Community Paediatrician and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what I should expect to happen next? 
I have also been told we will have to do ‘parenting’ classes which has concerned me. 
Any tips and advise on what is to come In the next phases of the journey would be so helpful

  • Hi I'm afraid I don't have any advice to offer on the community paediatrician, but my husband and I took advantage of parenting classes that our daughter's school was offering and it was really good. As someone else has mentioned - don't take it personally. I think parenting is the hardest thing I have ever done and I wouldn't walk into a job expecting to know how to do it really well with no training - I think parenting classes should be standard for all parents. Plus, your daughter is so young you won't have made many of the mistakes the rest of us have already made! One word of caution though, these classes will probably be oriented towards 'neurotypical' kids so you might need to adapt for your daughter's particular needs. Good luck!
