hi just looking on advise

As family member going through pip reveiw and the DWP have denied a request made under the equality act 2010 reasonable adjustments for paperbased descion for family member who has autism and severe mental health probelms which impact on them so profoundly they cant comply to telephone assessment due to the severe distress and trauma and harm it will cause them .

Also they have no clue how their autism etc profoundly impacts on them or the risks that their disabilties cause them for example will say can do such a thing fine as doesnt under that they are at risk doing it etc as they have no realistic understanding of how their disabilties severely impact on them. They will also agree to things said to them even though they have no idea what they have agreed too

They also not got the mental capability to handle own affairs so have an appointee

The dwp know full well how profoundly their autism and mental health probelms impacts on them .And they still denied request for reasonable adjustments and the DWP also know the appointee and representive cant be with our family member and this in the DWP own rules means the consulation/assessment is not meant to go a head.

Yet the DWP even knowing all this and knowing it wil cause our family member suffering trauma pain and harm and cause them to severely deterite is still going a head with the telephone assessment /consulation

we just looking for welfare benefits advise and welcome advise and support in this as if its not hard enough for those with autism with covid 19

they then are treated unfairly and caused more suffering pain trauma by DWP not having no clue about autism etc

    I'm new to this forum
    I have Asperger's myself I'm 32 yrs old from Cardiff 
    One other thing
    I have a mild form of autism and I get PIP
    Some people in my family and friends knew this and I think they teased me about this in the past 
    They made passive aggressive comments but moreso indirect negative comments about me claiming benefits
    I did think in the nicest way that they may be ignorant of how my autism affects me 
    This did unfortunately cause me unnecessary worry over the years
    I also have OCD recurring thoughts which made it worse where their words would be repeated in my mind and I would get anxious 
    I was also afraid speak up or ask what they meant with the indirect comments at the time as i dislike conflict and didn't want others to be defensive toward me 
    Was wondering do u think I could try to learn love myself try improve my self esteem and try be detached and mindful to be.abf stay calm when these comments are said?
    Could I try be compassionately assertive using "I statements" to express my hurt about the comments without getting upset and to try ask people I know if they could try not to say the comments if possible?
    Would it be helpful for me to contact the national autistic society for further advice as well on how to respond to comments?
    That said I feel much better knowing that I am entitled to this money, and try ignore comments and try to forgive the comments and try forgive myself for letting it worry me

    ignorance to autism is very hard from others it causes so much hurt and worry and trauma

    its very hard to try and express emotions feelings and thoughts especially when we are upset ,it is really hard to understand what others mean by things they say such as indirect comments

    and it would be a good idea to get others to understand and be more mindful to your feelings etc yet speaking to NAS first before you speak to your family is a really good idea .

    As NAS would be able to help so you get support and advise over the phone from NAS.

    And you can put your messages on here theres always nice people on her that will give you support through advise and signposting you to other services that can help you .
