How are you coping during this difficult time

Hi, I have 5 children, 3 are Autistic, 2 have a diagnosis and one is still waiting for the test. We have been home schooling since March like everyone else, my Autistic children don’t like school anyway so have embraced being at home. My girls have enjoyed home schooling but my little boy, who I think is also adhd, is really struggling to do much at all it makes me wonder if he ever got anything done at school at all. So despite the guilt over home schooling there is also the issue of not going out. We only have a small back yard and live by the sea side, which you would think is lovely but everyone flocks to the sea front, so we can’t really go out much as my children really struggle to social distance, especially if there are a lot of people.
I am also finding it very very hard having no time to my self, my son never sleeps, he just about goes off to sleep at 11pm-midnight then he is up at 5am....omg I just want sometime alone, just to go to the toilet with out mumeee...ok now I feel guilty for thinking that! I love my children being at home but!

How are you all coping?.....sometimes I just wish I had someone to talk to.

  • Hi Jumanji, just by trying to home school 5 children since March, you are doing an amazing job and wanting a bit of peace and time for yourself is completely understandable. I only have 2 children, which I am finding hard enough to deal with, while working from home at the same time. My youngest has an autism diagnosis and, like your daughters, has embraced being at home, as she was struggling with being at school before lockdown. I know it’s easier said than done, but please try and take care of yourself and remember you have nothing to feel guilty about
