Deferring start to junior school/repeating school year

Hello everyone,

My son is in year 2 and simply not ready to start junior school in September 2020. He is very emotional and wouldn't cope in a junior school in September.

He had about 5 transition visits planned...God knows when schools will open...

I was wondering are there any other parents whose kids are in year 2 or year 6 and wont be ready to transition to the next academic stage in September? What can be done in these unprecedented times to ask schools/councils for our kids to repeat the year. Who do I contact? Can anything be done? 

I have sent an email to the special educational needs dept at my local council and also emailed my MP but no replies so far..

Hope someone can advise me.
