Lockdown and daughters distress

Hi all, 
I have never really used this forum or others before but beside myself after a terrifically challenging day.  My daughter was diagnosed with autism in recent months and currently is struggling with Coronavirus, lockdown, change in routine etc.  She has been angry, threatening and so attacking to me and her sister and I know that much of this is the distress she is experiencing.  I feel completely helpless as a mum and when I contacted the team who diagnosed was sent an action plan to help give her a timetable which feels very basic as we had already done this.  My daughter is 9 and is saying she does not want to be here,  threatened to get a knife and stab me in my sleep - I am so concerned for her and for us too as this is so distressing for all.  Feeling so very sad.

  • Hello. Firstly great mum for trying to understand! 

    My child used to draw with me at that age and I'd gradually get out of him what was on his mind. Could you try that?

    Usually at bed time was the best as theres no distractions. 

    Timetable is good but ask her what her thoughts are on some of the times added

    Try keeping what you can the same as before quarantine such as dinnertime, lunch, bedtime routines 

    Try getting out once a day

    Try having 'quiet time's in the house for an hour a day. So all go and do yourown thing in your rooms or where ever. What are her interests? Maybe plan some time with her to explore her interests each day
