Hiya , I just wanted to introduce myself I’ve just joined as a member on here , my 9 year old Son Samuel was only just diagnosed with Autism last December, so I’m still learning as a parent about the condition, so will be interested to see all your discussions and advice, information and support, my Son loves Minecraft and anything to do with arts and crafts , and Lego. I’m looking forward to joining you all on this journey Together.

  • Welcome to the forum from an autistic Lego fan!

I'm not a parent myself, but I was an autistic little boy many moons ago, and I can certainly vouch for how wonderful it is to get advice "straight from the horses mouth", and the people here are incredibly generous with their help.

A couple of little tips for you. Firstly, don't neglect the advice from us older autistic people - we were all autistic kiddies once, and so we can often offer a bit of "inside information" about what growing up autistic is like. And secondly, some counter-advice: most of us grown-ups missed out on diagnosis and support for many decades, so try not to let our tales of woe frighten you too much - our lives may have turned out very differently if we'd had an explanation for our problems much sooner, and like all support sites, the stories are biased because people who don't need support aren't so well represented.

    Best wishes to you both.
