What do I say to other parents when my child is behaving in a challenging way

I would really appreciate any advice right now!

My 6 year old is a bright and wonderful boy, he really wants to play with other children. Sometimes he can get too excited (squeeze or hug other children) or suddenly start crying, shouting or become aggressive. The same way most children do but it happens very quickly with no obvious triggers.

I’m struggling as I don’t know what to do in these situations. I'm quite anxious myself and hate confrontation, I don’t really know what I should say to other parents or teachers apart from “sorry. If I ask my son to apologise for hurting another child he has a melt down.

It breaks my heart when I hear other people call him bad or naughty. We have one more appointment with the paediatrician , the ADOS test.

Maybe someone could recommend some books or training?

I think that the school can help you with communication to other parents. It's easy to become a playground pariah but the school can start to explain to your son's classmates about the issues he is facing and the way he can react. The Amazing Things Happen film on YouTube is really good.
