Hi so I’m a parent to 9year old twins one was diagnosed in 2016 and the other is waiting to be diagnosed. They’ve always struggled but since last summer everything has escalated, from there behaviour to the severity of meltdowns. They threatened to kill themselfs and to kill me and have even got knifes out (all knifes are now locked away) during an aftermath of a meltdown one of the twins found some pills in a friends bag and ate them all, I took him straight to hospital and explained the change in behaviour and we were put in isolation waiting for cahms to come in, he is now on a waiting list to see cahms. We also noticed a change in how they chew everything which they always have but seems to be drastically getting worse, it started with toilet paper, the walls, carpet, Lego anything they could get there hands on. Until I caught them the other month rolling up there poo and swallowing it hole.. now they’ve always played with there poo/pee (smearing) was told it’s sensory and really quite normal. But now it seems that every time they go the toilet there eating it, I’ve tried everything and now I’m just watching them every time I go. But they will hid it or go in there pants and take it from there. I’ve seen them hide it in drawers/under bed/pockets just seems relentless. It honestly seems like an addiction at this point and when caught they’ll have a meltdown. My thought is that there becoming the age where hormones are at play and there struggling with there emotions because just from two years ago to now is extreme, any advice welcome we have a lot of agency’s involved and waiting on a new appointment from pedeatrition/cahms and also waiting on a ehc plan.
