Accommodation for Adults with Asperger's

Anyone finding problems finding appropriate housing for their adult children with Asperger Syndrome? I have my son trapped in an acute mental health ward as a result of no housing options for him. It's desperate (and expensive for the NHS), to cater for his needs in this way. Living in London, it's hard to believe their are so few options, if any at all...

  • Hi NAS65816,

I'm sorry to hear that things have been such a challenge for you and your son at the moment.

You may like to contact our Autism Helpline team who can provide you with information and advice. While they aren't able to offer specific housing advice, they may be able to signpost to useful resources or contacts that may be able to help. They may also be able to discuss the fact that your son is currently in a mental health ward, and whether there are any options that you may be able to explore.

You can contact the team via telephone on 0808 800 4104 (Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm, Friday 9am to 3pm). Please note that the Helpline is experiencing a high volume of calls and it may take a couple of attempts before you get through to speak to an advisor. Alternatively, should you prefer to send a message, you can do so via their webform:

    I hope this is helpful.

    Kind regards,

    Dani Mod
