(Overnight) Summer programs (IT?) for mildly autistic teens?

Hello,

I am looking for a summer camp or pre-university programme for my 14 year old son. He is ADHD " with autism spectrum traits"  (like failure to recognize emotion or read body language). I am looking for a camp or pre-university programme for him to attend this summer 2020. I cant seem to find much. It doesn't even need to be really special needs specific, but perhaps someone has some good ideas?  I think it would be great for him (he lives with 4 females on a daily basis that drive him nuts)! PLease let me know if anything similar exists. He loves coding, programming, IT and is not a fan or any group activities unfortunately, so a typic camp is too much stress for him. He has tried and survived, but not ideal. (Can be anywhere in Europe!)

Thanks!!

  • Not a camp as such, but maybe a summer school?  Many universities run sessions for school students during the summer. Some of the big museums also run summer classes. Or try the Royal Institution.Try to find something to match his particular interest. The down side is having to travel each day.

  • Hi Liga,

It might be worth having a look in the NAS Autism Services Directory, which catalogues many different types of autism-related services from around the country. The directory is here - https://www.autism.org.uk/directory.aspx and I would recommend the Services section, and looking under 'Holidays' or 'Short breaks' here - https://www.autism.org.uk/directory/browse/cid=57~aid=1.aspx - for something that might be relevant to what you're looking for.

Hope this is of some help,
