Preferring showers and not cleaning teeth

H all,

I have seen lots of threads about not washing or hating showers, but my son is the opposite. He loved sensory stimulation from smells he likes, shower gels, shampoos, deodorants, aftershave, room fresheners, and will often just spray randomly in to the air just to smell. He also loves showers and jumps at the chance to visit somewhere that has one (we dont at home), especially if they are powerful, but i have to pretty much force him in the bath and can normally only get him to do so once a week. Does anyone else have this?

He is nearly 12 and started puberty early at 10 and quite frankly he stinks of rotten onions. He does not seem to recognise this and is unphased by the effect on others. Also hates cleaning his teeth and is starting to get very red gums. Tried electric brushes, baby brushes, toothcleaning apps and he loves mint so does not want other toothpaste. His breath stinks and he gets horrible orange build up. He now has to have plates fitted on Monday to try to correct his bite and encourage his jaw to grow. No idea how this is going to go but it is even more important that he cleans them and his teeth/mouth. Any ideas?

  • On Amazon there are wash basin/bath shower hoses where you fit the hose to the taps.  Some of the hoses are about 1.5-1.7 metres.  You'd need something to hold the shower head up. Can't imagine them being really powerful but maybe makeshift is better than nothing?  Sorry if this info is of no use to you but I thought it worth a mention x
