Hello. I am a software developer, and my fiancee is a therapist who works with children with autism. During her work, she sometimes makes visual schedules from printed out paper. We wondered if it might be useful to make a simple app that presents visual schedules digitally. But we are not sure if a digital visual schedule would be useful.
Possible advantages of a digital board include:
-
Can make new boards quickly in new situations, because you don’t need to print things out
-
Use real photos, instead of clip art so kids can relate
-
Saves time for teachers and therapists who make boards over and over
But maybe there are disadvantages to digital boards? For instance, maybe paper boards are more tangible?
Has anyone tried using a digital scheduler? Are there advantages over traditional paper versions?
