My daughter is 5 and she has had her first assessment in May with the paediatrician and psychologist and they have said she definitely is showing signs of autism but in the report they said social communication difficulties. They are going to do an assessment at her school after the holidays. I am always on edge when seeing the professionals as I feel that they are going to say she is fine as she is getting good at masking the traits in front of stranger, teachers and her school friends.
Her school seem very uneducated on how to spot and deal with girls who have autism when my daughter first started nursery the teachers said she was fine and that I don't need to worry but as she got older and to the end of reception the teachers noticed it more and that worries me for when she goes up in higher years will her mind-set still be in the reception years.
