Hi. I'm mum to a 5 year old son with autism. He's in mainstream school and I was looking for any tips or advice on dealing with Christmas. The other children in his class are excited about Santa and I'm wondering how to explain things. Also any advice on dealing with all the changes to his routine? Thanks.

Try making a countdown calendar with pictures of what will happen each day - a bit like an advent calendar but all visible so he can see what's up ahead. If you have photos from previous years you could make a scrap book to look at and remind him what happened last year. A friend of mine actually let her son wrap his presents with her as he hates surprises!
