Need Advice

hiya, im looking for some advice on my 2 year old who is more than likely on the AS even tho his not diagnosed yet, as i can tell all the signs as i have AS and my 11 yo and 3 yo have been diagnosed and im starting to get worried as his still not talking and not responding to his name, definately doesnt listen to NO his constant naughty lol but earlier this year i started him into school hoping it would bring him on but im starting to doubt that his getting the support that he needs there as the teacher seems really impatient with him and always seems angry round him i know his hard work but she has other assistants with her to help its like she just doesnt understand i have a meeting tomorrow and thinking of taking him out of school and trying to find some programs to help i found something called gemini but thats too expensive and he doesnt seem interested in that transporters and my eldest had to wait until he was 5 years old to get any speech therapy so probally gonna take the same again i dont feel there is enough support out there for under 5 yo. thanks for listening to me whinge lol

  • Hi,

Preschool can refer for speech and language therapy but it does depend where you are as to how long you will wait. As you are probably aware there are lots of communication aids available. I would be concerned that the teacher always seems angry around him, this certainly won't help him communicate! As the moderator suggests look for other services in your area

    Good luck
