Online Dating for young adults

Hi

My son (17 years) is showing an interest to use online dating.

Can anyone suggest share their experiences?

I've only every met my partners through the internet. When I was at uni I met my first serious boyfriend through MySpace and have used various dating apps since. I'm getting married at the end of April and met my fiancé though Bumble.

I prefer internet dating as you get to learn about the person via text first, which takes the pressure off the first face-to-face meeting.

I'm traditional in the sense that I like the man to make the first move dating wise. The general rule tends to be that you're asked out on a date within a few days of messaging and the first meet up is within a week. This way if your not compatible when you meet you haven't wasted too much time focusing on that one person.

I prefer activity dates, as there isn't as much pressure on the social side compared to meeting in a pub. My first date with the guy I met through MySpace started off with bowling as we could have a small chat in between swings but I also had lots of little breaks to manage my nerves. The first date with my fiancé was a walk around a nature reserve, as it was so successful we then went for a meal.
